Chalk It Up 2010
Watch your step on October 9, 10-5pm for a street-level gallery of chalk masterpieces! Chalk It Up is a free, family-friendly event where San Antonio's premier artists transform city sidewalks into colorful works of art. Help complete a super-sized street mural or roll up your sleeves and make a work of your own at the Freestyle Section. Don't forget Kidzones-spaces designed to let creative spirits soar!
This annual community event is an opportunity for locals and tourists alike to appreciate and participate in our city's creative resources. If you would like to expand your participation by volunteering please email education@artpace.org for details and information.
Chalk It Up is pleased to feature some of San Antonio's most interesting and talented professionals as Showcase Artists. Each Showcase Artist will create an original work on a monumental scale. These Showcase images are not to be missed!
Artists featured to participate in Chalk It Up play a significant role in the event by creating original images, in chalk, rendered directly on the sidewalks of downtown Houston Street.
Groups collaborate on a large-scale chalk work. K-12 schools, community organizations, and universities are eligible to participate in this team-building activity. Deadline to apply for a space is September 10. Email education@artpace.org for more information.
Aspiring artists are invited to participate in the creation of a super-sized street mural. This work, directed by a teaching artist, requires your creative touch.
Designated areas throughout the venue serve as gathering places for families featuring free, educator-led activities for kids. Young people explore their creativity (and learn new techniques!) through art projects highlighting inventive uses of chalk.
